Deposit and rent payments

UAL Managed Halls

The following halls are managed by UAL: Archwood House, Brooke Hall, Cordwainers Court, the Costume Store, Gardens House, Glassyard Building, Highline Building, Portland House and Sketch House. This means that your deposit and rent payments will be paid to UAL Accommodation Services.

To book your accommodation in a UAL managed hall, you will need to pay a £250 damage deposit  and £250 of advance rent. The £250 damage deposit will be refunded (less outstanding charges) at the end of your tenancy using the original method of payment. The £250 advance rent will be used towards your first charge period. Please note that we only accept credit/debit card (Mastercard and Visa) payments during the booking process. We do not accept deposit and advance rent payments via bank transfer.

When booking your accommodation, you will have the option to pay your annual rent in full during the booking process or choose a termly payment plan. If you choose to pay the rent in termly instalments, the card you use to pay your deposit and advance rent will be registered on a Recurring Card Payment (RCP) plan for your future rent instalments. If you need to change the card details regstered on your RCP plan, please contact the Accommodation Finance Team at accomfinance@arts.ac.uk.

2025/26 Payment Dates

  • Term 1 - 06/09/2025
  • Term 2 - 13/01/2026
  • Term 3 - 14/04/2026

If you are a UK student and are in receipt of a student maintenance loan, you will have the option to amend your first instalment payment date to coincide with receipt of your loan. If you receive an offer for a UAL managed hall, you will be sent further information on how to organise this. Please note that if your payment dates are amended, you will still be liable for the rent from your contract start date. If you are in receipt of any other loans, bursaries or scholarships for your accommodation fees, please contact us for further guidance. Please note the advanced rent and damage deposit payment cannot be deferred until you have received your student loan or other forms of funding.

We have a dedicated team of Finance Administrators within the Accommodation Services team, who are happy to assist with any questions you may have. You can email them at accomfinance@arts.ac.uk or call +44(0)20 7514 6240.

Partner Halls

Some of our halls of residences are called partner halls. This means the building, contract and rent payments are managed by an external provider. The following halls are our partner halls: Emily Bowes Court (Unite Students), Furzedown Student Village and Cedars Hall (Finddigs), Wick Park (Mezzino) and Stratford One (Unite Students) and YourTRIBE Peckham (YourTRIBE).

Although you will book your room for these halls through the UAL accommodation portal, your deposit and rent payments will be paid directly to the provider. If you receive an offer for one of our partner halls, the provider will be in touch with you directly to explain your options for the deposit and rent payments.

All UAL-managed halls and partner halls (Emily Bowes Court, Furzedown Student Village and Cedars Hall, Stratford One, Wick Park and Wigram House) are covered by Howden Insurance (formerly Endsleigh).

Before moving into halls, you will be asked to confirm your cover, to ensure you understand what is and isn’t covered. You will be able to download a copy of the policy for future reference too.
